DAY #4.....St. Louis, Missouri and we finally got an EXTRA hour!!! We need that.
As we left our hotel and headed toward Indiana, we passed right by our FAVORITE BASEBALL BAT!!!! And, for the first time in the past 2 years, we didn't even stop!!! That hurt us not to stop but we knew we didn't have time. We had a 'date' with an ARCH on the other side of Indiana!!
We were headed WEST.....WARD.....HO.....
And on in to ILLINOIS......
And finally made it to MISSOURI.....
How fun to get our first good glimpse of the GATEWAY ARCH. It is more impressive than the foto allows.
We found a parking spot in a close by parking deck and wondered if we would be able to find the arch! Well, with these signs on the sidewalk every few steps, there was NO WAY to get lost!!
WOW it is impressive and so much bigger when you are standing under it.
We lined up for our 'turn' to ride the gondola up to the top. It was a 4 minute ride. Each pod had 5 seats in it. Very interesting little gismo set up. Here we are waiting outside of 'our pod' #5!!
You can possible see how small the pods are. Seemed more like a space ship!
Let me just tell you how scary it was up on the top. IT WAS SCARY!!! I couldn't believe I was actually up there. What was I THINKING!!! Apparently, I wasn't thinking!
This was my initial reaction to be on top!!! Have I said how SCARY it was on top!!
I held on my a foto......those little windows behind us are the look out windows! Not very big at all.
Just to give you an idea of the size of this arch......
If this is not on your bucket list, you need to add it! What an amazing thing to see and even more amazing to go up to the top of inside!!!
And the adventure continues........
