DAY #20 - Las Vegas, Nevada to Kingman, Arizona....
We were off and running pretty quickly this morning....a lot of ground to cover and not sure how we are going to do it all!! LOVE the palm trees outside our hotel.
Our first stop was to visit the LAS VEGAS NEVADA TEMPLE...just north of our hotel. Fortunately for us, we had gone there before heading south to Peoria! We got a phone cal from our hotel letting us know that Dad had left his computer back at the hotel!!! YIKES!! Really?? We headed back down there to pick that up and then continued on down to Kingman AZ. The temple is on a beautiful setting north Las Vegas where you can overlook the city.
After finishing there, we decided to stop at Hoover Dam and check that out. It is on the ARIZONA state line.
The beautiful NEW BRIDGE that goes over the Colorado River....
Looking the other direction. You can see how low the river is!!! Pretty striking to say the least....
After spending several hours at the Hoover Dan (and we could have spent more!!) we headed on to Jacob and Emmy's place. They actually picked us up at our hotel so we could get out and about and see some things. We wondered over to OATMAN, AZ. What a fun little 'town'....old timey town. And look what we had waiting for us as we drove into town....BURROS!!! How fun they were....very friendly.
Even Emmey got close enough to pet one....
We noticed some 'stickers' on their foreheads...."STOP, DO NOT FEED ME ANYTHING"! What a hoot....they were so cute. I would like to take one home with me.
And I actually think I could have enticed one to come home with me too.
We were traveling on the old ROUTE 66!!! How fun was this.....
We were able to catch a sun set at the top of the dessert mountain road we were traveling on....notice how 'hazy' it looks? That is actually DUST because of such high winds from storms the past couple of days. Pretty but very, very windy and dusty.
We wanted to go up in the mountains to a resort for dinner but it was too late. We opted for MR. D'S for dinner instead. Historic Mr. D's!!
We all enjoyed it....I think!! Jacob and Emmy treated us!
When we finished dinner Jacob and Emmy brought us back to our hotel. I wanted Emmy to pick our a doily that she liked that I had made. She actually picked 2 out. She seemed to like them.
AND....the fun continues. I think we might be getting pooped but not sure. We gained another hour last night. At some point we are going to start loosing those 3 hours we have gained on this trip. That is going to hurt!!!......
